Bohai Sea voyage(2023)

From January 17th to February 3rd, 2023, China's first university icebreaker, "ZHONG SHAN DA XUE JI DI" Icebreaker, crossed 3,200 nautical miles and successfully carried out a trial voyage mission in the Bohai Sea ice zone. It verified the capabilities of the Polar ship in low-temperature navigation, icebreaking, and support for scientific research in ice-covered areas.

This voyage traversed the South China Sea, East China Sea, Yellow Sea, and Bohai Sea, experiencing strong winds and huge waves along the way. On January 24th, it encountered a 4.5-meter giant wave in the Chengshantou area, and arrived in the ice zone of the Bohai Liaodong Bay in the early morning of January 25th.

Guided by satellite imagery, the Polar ship, dressed in silver armor, advanced towards the most severe ice zone. The sea ice in the Liaodong Bay emitted crisp cracking sounds under the pressure of the ship, leaving behind beautiful arcs in the northern maritime territory.

During the ice zone trial voyage of the Polar ship, multiple sets of shipborne observation equipment were used to synchronously observe the sea ice range, thickness, ice surface temperature, atmospheric pressure, wind speed and direction, humidity, visibility, and other information related to sea ice and atmospheric environment.
